چکیده

This breakout group evaluated the data addressing EMF effects on cytosolic free calcium and other ions as well as the effect of EMF on calcium signaling pathways. A literature search of papers published from 1990 to 1996 showed approximately 25 manuscripts directly related to the topic (see Table 1 and References; note these searches are inevitably incomplete). The breakout group discussed several of the manuscripts including some that report that EMF can alter intracellular Ca regulation and some that reported no effect.

Comparison of the effects of extremely low-frequency Electromagnetic field and Betaine on in vitro osteogenic differentiation of human adipose tissue derived-mesenchymal stem cells

Background & Aim: Extremely low-frequency electromagnetic field (ELF-EMF) and betaine are safe factors in bone fracture repair. This study aimed to compare the effects of these two stimuli on osteogenic differentiation of human adipose stem cells (hADSCs). Methods: After obtaining written informed consent, cells were extracted from abdominal adipose tissue and then cultured in vitro until the ...

Acute exposure to high‐induction electromagnetic field affects activity of model peripheral sensory neurons

Exposure to repetitive low-frequency electromagnetic field (LF-EMF) shows promise as a non-invasive approach to treat various sensory and neurological disorders. Despite considerable progress in the development of modern stimulation devices, there is a limited understanding of the mechanisms underlying their biological effects and potential targets at the cellular level. A significant impact of...

Inhibition of Cancer Cell Growth by Exposure to a Specific Time-Varying Electromagnetic Field Involves T-Type Calcium Channels

Electromagnetic field (EMF) exposures affect many biological systems. The reproducibility of these effects is related to the intensity, duration, frequency, and pattern of the EMF. We have shown that exposure to a specific time-varying EMF can inhibit the growth of malignant cells. Thomas-EMF is a low-intensity, frequency-modulated (25-6 Hz) EMF pattern. Daily, 1 h, exposures to Thomas-EMF inhi...

Effects of radio waves on male fertility

In recent years, male fertility has changed due to the effects of environmental, health and lifestyle factors and the infertility rate has increased, to the extent that male fertility may be affected by extreme heat, exposure to pesticides, radiation, substances Changes in radioactivity, lifestyle, stress and occupation. In the environment, there are ionizing and non-ionizing rays whose effect...

Melatonin protects rat cerebellar granule cells against electromagnetic field-induced increases in Na+ currents through intracellular Ca2+ release

Although melatonin (MT) has been reported to protect cells against oxidative damage induced by electromagnetic radiation, few reports have addressed whether there are other protective mechanisms. Here, we investigated the effects of MT on extremely low-frequency electromagnetic field (ELF-EMF)-induced Nav activity in rat cerebellar granule cells (GCs). Exposing cerebellar GCs to ELF-EMF for 60 ...
